Evanescence takes its show to Canada

Goth purveyors Evanescence will spend the early part of 2007 blanketing the arena circuit in major Canadian cities, with rockers Stone Sour holding down the opening slot.

Evanescence continues to back its latest album, this year's "The Open Door," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart and has been certified platinum, signifying 1 million copies shipped. The new album follows the band's multi-platinum, 2003 debut, "Fallen," which earned the group two Grammy nominations.

Earlier this year, Evanescence broke in new bassist Tim McCord, formerly of Revolution Smile, on the North American tour circuit. He replaced William Boyd, who left the group over the summer.

McCord and the rest of the Evanescence--frontwoman Amy Lee, drummer Rocky Gray, and guitarists John LeCompt and Terry Balsamo--are finishing out 2006 by playing radio-station festivals. The group's currently confirmed US and Canadian dates are below.

In addition to the Canadian run, Evanescence has also booked dates in Japan and Australia for early 2007. Details are available at the band's website.

The group is scheduled to make a Dec. 14 appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
