Trey Anastasio arrested on DUI, drug charges
Former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio was arrested Friday (12/15) after an early morning traffic stop in Whitehall, NY, and charged with multiple counts related to drug possession.
Police said Anastasio, 42, was pulled over at about 3:30 a.m. for failing to keep to the right, and was administered a field-sobriety test, with police determining that the singer was under the influence of narcotics.
Anastasio was also found to be in possession of two prescription narcotics--hydrocodone and percocet--and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax. All three medications were prescribed to another person, authorities said.
"I feel terrible about what happened last night, and I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I have caused my friends, family and fans," Anastasio said Friday evening in a statement released through a New York public relations firm.
Anastasio is currently touring behind his latest solo album, "Bar 17," which hit stores in October. The singer is next scheduled to perform Dec. 27 in Washington, DC.
