Volunteer Jam's Players To Include Charlie Daniels Band, Hank Jr.
The Charlie Daniels Band 's Volunteer Jam--which was born in Nashville in 1974 and became a traveling show last year--will return to the road in May. Hank Williams Jr. will share the bill with Daniels for all but one show on the tour.
Little Feat will appear on all of the tour's stops through June 6, and Edgar Winter will take over for the remainder of the jaunt. Hank Williams Jr. won't be on the bill in Nashville, but Daniels' publicist promises many "surprise guests" for that show.
Sixteen shows have been confirmed for this year. A spokesperson for Daniels said that it is possible that more dates will be added.
Last year's Volunteer Jam visited 33 cities with a bill that featured Molly Hatchet , the Marshall Tucker Band, and, on some dates, Hank Williams, Jr.
The first Volunteer Jam took place in 1974 in Nashville, and was organized because Daniels wanted to record songs before a large, live audience for his "Fire on the Mountain" album. The Volunteer Jam's 16 runs prior to 1999 were all in the Nashville area.
