Sebadoh's early lineup reunites
The core lineup of indie-rock band Sebadoh has reunited and will hit the road in late February for a North American tour.
Gigs start Feb. 26 in San Diego and the band will play all over the US and Canada through April. The itinerary is listed below.
Dinosaur Jr. bassist Lou Barlow--who recently reunited with that group as well--formed Sebadoh with Eric Gaffney in 1986 and later added then-teenager Jason "Jake" Loewenstein to the fold. The trio's first widely released album, 1991's "Sebadoh III," is considered by many critics to be one of indie rock's definitive albums.
A digitally remastered version of that 23-track record with a bonus disc was released earlier this year on the Domino label. The bonus material includes an additional 18 previously unreleased songs, a few remixes and demos.
"The record has been unavailable for years and had been fetching big money on eBay," Barlow told The Phoenix. "There have been no Sebadoh reissues to date, and 'III' seemed like a logical place to begin."
"Sebadoh III" is a prime example of the band's lo-fi approach to music, often using a four-track machine to record.
Drummer Gaffney left Sebadoh in 1993, and was replaced by Bob Fay.
