Jimmy Buffett sets up February gigs
Jimmy Buffett will continue to tour a few dates at a time, launching his new year with just a pair of new shows and no concentrated push behind his latest studio album.
The singer will play a pair of Florida locations, kicking off Feb. 8 in Orlando, and followed two nights later by a concert in Tallahassee. Tickets for both shows are set to go on sale Jan. 13.
Buffett is touring behind his first new studio album since 2004's "License to Chill." The new set, dubbed "Take the Weather With You," hit stores in October. The singer worked with a variety of guest stars on the set, including English band Gomez, steel guitarist Doyle Grisham and Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, who appears on several songs.
Buffett also tackled a number of alt-country songs on the album, including a cover of Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings."
"Without realizing it, I went to my roots on this record," Buffett said in a press release. "It's not a stretch for me to do country music."
Last April, five new recordings by Buffett--including a cover of the late Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London"--turned up on the soundtrack to "Hoot," a family film that Buffett co-produced.
