Goo Goo Dolls firm up winter/spring outing
A handful of dates have been added to the upcoming Goo Goo Dolls tour, which will hit more than 30 cities all over the US starting Feb. 3 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The itinerary (listed below) has the band playing multiple shows at Washington, DC's 9:30 Club and Detroit's State Theater, with melodic rockers Augustana filling the opening slot on all dates. The outing wraps April 1 in Reno, NV, after which time the Dolls will head across the Pond for a UK leg and then return to the US for more American dates through the summer, according to a press release.
The Goo Goo Dolls will once again bring along USA Harvest on the road to collect and distribute canned food and goods for needy families in each market along the tour route. Collection containers will be near the entrance to each venue.
The Dolls are supporting their gold-certified album "Let Love In," which was released in April. The band's eighth studio record was produced by Glen Ballard, and has so far scored four hit songs including the title track, which is the current single. That tune and a couple of others from the album are streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The success of "Let Love In" has prompted the release of an expanded edition, which is scheduled to hit shelves Feb. 27, according to a statement. The new edition adds a DVD component with live performances, music videos and acoustic versions of the songs "Better Days" and "We'll Be Here (When You're Gone)."
In between tours, The Goo Goo Dolls have been building their own recording studio in their hometown of Buffalo, NY, the statement said. Singer Johnny Rzeznik recently told a reporter that the studio is a not-for-profit project for friends, family and local talent that the band wants to help.
