Family Values Tour Plans Revealed

The fresh faces and sparkling teeth of Limp Bizkit, Filter and The Crystal Method have signed on for the second Family Values Tour, which is set to bounce through about 30 cities in a little over a month. Also participating in as-yet-unconfirmed portions of the tour will be DMX, Method Man and Redman, a well as opening acts to be announced.

The tour, which again will combine hardcore rock and rap, opens at the Pittsburgh Civic Center on Sept. 21, and wraps with a Halloween show at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

Last year's Family Values Tour, which featured KORN, Rammstein, Ice Cube, Limp Bizkit, Orgy and Incubus proved to be a blockbuster, grossing $6.4 million over just 27 shows. The show was the brainchild of KORN (which is currently putting the finishing touches on a new album), their management company The Firm, and Metropolitan Entertainment.

"THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR was not only a great business success, but more importantly, a rousing success with the fans,'' John Scher of Metropolitan said in a statement. ''I think, to a great degree, we accomplished what we set out to: creating a fun, wild evening with a unique atmosphere and incredible music. We're looking forward to making it all happen again with this year's line-up." Sega of America and ARTISTdirect.com will be the tour's presenting sponsor the tour, with MTV serving as a supporting media sponsor.

Sega will showcase its new 128-bit, Internet-ready Sega Dreamcast video game console. Concert attendees can test drive Sega's new console and games in the ''Sega Dreamcast Mobile Assault Tour'' arena and compete in the ''Sega Dreamcast Championships'' game competition for the $15,000 grand prize. The ''Sega Dreamcast Mobile Assault Tour'' arena is comprised of a two ton assault truck and two all-terrain vehicles housing Sega Dreamcast game kiosks.

ARTISTdirect.com will host the tour's official website. The site will include live webcasts, a daily tour diary, audio, video and text chats, behind-the-scenes photos and exclusive interviews. Additionally, the ARTISTdirect site will feature online contests, including fly-away trips and ticket giveaways.

Tour organizers promise fans elaborate stage designs for each band, including larger-than-life light and laser shows, pyrotechnics, and short set changes between each performance.
