Fall Out Boy takes one-day 'Infinity Flight' across the US
Fall Out Boy has plans to launch its new album, "Infinity on High," with a big ol' publicity stunt that will see the pop-rock darlings play a three-city tour in one day, jetting from New York City to Chicago to Los Angeles for free shows.
The band has teamed with MTV for the Feb. 6 Infinity Flight 206 trek, which begins with a morning performance at the network's Times Square studios, after which the members of Fall Out Boy will board a private jet bound for their hometown of Chicago, where they'll play a gig at the House of Blues. They'll cap things off with a show to be staged on the rooftop of a building in downtown L.A., according to MTV News.
Tickets to the free shows will be given away through radio stations in each market and through Fall Out Boy's official fan website. Also, fans can enter a contest at the Infinity Flight 206 website for a chance to spend the entire day with the band.
Those who can't make the concerts can follow the action via another special website--FalloutBoy.MTV.com--which will feature behind-the-scenes footage, photos and other exclusives, according to MTV. The network will also break into its on-air programming with updates during the day.
Fall Out Boy just wrapped the largely sold-out Friends or Enemies Tour with New Found Glory, The Early November and Permanent Me. In late February, the band will tackle shows in Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Europe that run into April. Those dates can be found at Fall Out Boy's website.
Mid-April marks the start of the band's headlining slot on the seventh annual Honda Civic Tour. Organizers of the outing, which launches April 18 in Charlotte, NC, have yet to announce the full schedule and support acts.
