Umphrey's McGee lines up tour behind 'Numbers'

Umphrey's McGee [ tickets ] will take a running start at 2007 with a lengthy tour centered around the April release of the group's third studio album, "Safety in Numbers."

The Indiana-based jam-rock band will kick off its busy outing with a two-night engagement in San Francisco beginning Feb. 16. The trek will hit more than 30 cities through mid-April.

"Safety in Numbers," which hits stores April 4, was produced by the band and its longtime sound engineer, Kevin Browning.

"We had kind of a crazy year and it all came out on this record," said guitarist and vocalist Jake Cinninger in a press release.

The band's most recent studio set was 2004's "Anchor Drops." A single from that album, "In the Kitchen," received Song of the Year honors at April's Jammy Awards ceremony in New York.
