Marc Cohn returns to Colorado for first time since shooting
Singer/songwriter Marc Cohn 's upcoming tour will include his first shows in Colorado since he was shot in the head during an August 2005 carjacking attempt in Denver.
The performer, best known for his 1991 hit, "Walking in Memphis," will kick off his upcoming outing Feb. 7 in Boulder and then hit Breckenridge and Aspen before moving on to Utah, and then the East Coast, through mid-March. Details are listed below.
Cohn recently admitted to Boulder's Daily Camera that he has some anxiety about returning to Colorado.
"The truth of the matter of is--and I'm well aware of it, though it's hard to convince your brain--the chance of anything like that happening again, especially where it's already happened once, are pretty slim," he told the paper, adding that he's been treated for post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Miraculously, Cohn suffered only minor injuries in the shooting that followed a concert at Denver's Botanical Gardens. The 27-year-old perpetrator, Joseph Yacteen, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and was sentenced to 36 years in prison in October, according to the Associated Press.
Cohn, who scored the best new artist Grammy in 1991, is currently working on his fourth album, which is expected to be released this summer.
Last June, the singer put out "The Very Best of Marc Cohn,"--an 18-song retrospective of his work. His last studio album was 1998's "Burning the Daze."
