Briefly: Shakira, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Barenaked Ladies
Shakira and Jean are scheduled to take the stage together, and Brown, Richie and Robinson will team up for a "tribute to the tradition of great male R&B artists," according to a press release. Rascal Flatts, meanwhile, will hook up with previously announced nominee Carrie Underwood for a tribute to country rock.
In addition to the aforementioned performers, Grammy organizers have added a number of presenters to the schedule, including Tony Bennett, LeAnn Rimes, Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls) and Seal.
The ceremony will air live on CBS from Los Angeles' Staples Center.
Pop sensation Justin Timberlake has been tapped to host the 20th-anniversary edition of Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards ceremony, according to a press release.
"I'm revving up to have an even bigger blast than usual at Nickelodeon's 20th Kids' Choice Awards, and I'm thrilled and proud to be hosting the 20th anniversary show," said Timberlake, who has won three Kids' Choice Blimp Awards: Favorite Musical Group ('N Sync) in 1999, and Best Burp in 2003 and 2006.
The Kid's Choice Awards ceremony will air March 31 on Nickelodeon.
Beyonce and Alejandro Fernandez have teamed up to record a new duet titled "Amor Gitano." Described in a press release as a "sensual, flamenco-pop track," the song is set to debut Feb. 12 on the premiere episode of Telemundo's "El Zorro" novella. The cut will also turn up on a forthcoming special-edition version of Beyonce's 2006 solo album, "B'day," which is due out in April; and on Fernandez's upcoming June release, which will be his first album of all-new material in two years.
"Amor Gitano" was written by Grammy-winning songwriters/recording artists Reyli Barba and Jaime Flores, co-written by Beyonce and produced by Grammy winning producer Rudy Perez. The song will hit radio stations later this month.
Barenaked Ladies have unveiled at their website the new video for their latest single, "Sound of Your Voice," which features the "stars" of popular homemade YouTube videos such as "Diet Coke and Mentos," "Barats & Bereta," "Where the Hell Is Matt" and "Evolution of Dance."
Currently in the midst of a Canadian tour, BNL will take a break from the road for a Feb. 22 appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
