'Rowdy Frynds' Hank Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd link for tour
Southern music icons Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd will team up this spring for an outing dubbed the "Rowdy Frynds" tour.
"Hank played with Skynyrd years ago and it was one heck of a show," Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant said in a press release. "Since then, we’ve been looking for the opportunity to tour together, because his fans are our fans, and vice versa."
The tour's initial round of dates will kick off April 11 in Huntsville, AL, with 20 shows spread over the following two months. Currently confirmed shows are listed below, and more will be added, according to organizers.
"Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. on the stage together in the same night," Hank Williams Jr. said in the press release. "Talk about a show! I can't wait to see what happens in these cities!"
Williams is currently backing "That's How They Do It in Dixie: The Essential Collection," a best-of album released last June.
Lynyrd Skynyrd's most recent full-length collection of new material is 2003's "Vicious Cycle."
