Briefly: The Police, Nine Inch Nails, Erasure, Nick Cave
Police frontman Sting's website is billing Monday's event as "The Police Rehearsals," which will commemorate the band's 30th anniversary. Members of Sting's official fan club have a shot at attending the event. More information is posted at the site.
The press conference, reportedly organized by concert promoter Live Nation, takes place the day after the group's highly anticipated performance at Sunday's (2/11) Grammy Awards ceremony, which will air live on CBS.
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, whose past studio albums have surfaced at the rate of about one every five or six years, will deliver the follow-up to 2005's "With Teeth" this spring.
Titled "Year Zero," the new set is due out April 15, according to NIN's website. A listing posted at the site indicates that the album will contain 16 tracks, and reveals the names of two cuts: "The Beginning of the End" and "God Given."
In the interim, fans can look forward to this month's release of "Nine Inch Nails Live: Beside You in Time," a concert DVD filmed during the group's late-2006 North American tour. Clips from the disc, as well as other extras, are posted at the forthcoming set's website.
British pop duo Erasure --a.k.a. Andy Bell and Vince Clark--has announced a May 22 release date for its forthcoming album, "Light at the End of the World." The set will feature the leadoff single "I Could Fall in Love With You," which is slated to surface sometime this spring, according to a press release.
Fans of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will have plenty to feast on next month when Mute Records offers up a four-disc set dubbed "The Abattoir Blues Tour." Scheduled for a March 20 release, the 2-DVD/2-CD collection captures live performances from the album "Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus," as well as selections of classic material culled from throughout the band's career.
Additional details about the set--including the cover art--are available at the group's website.
