Justin Timberlake prepares for new video, Grammy performance
Justin Timberlake 's FutureSex/LoveShow tour is taking a few days off while the singer premieres his new cinematic video, "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," and gets ready to perform at the Grammys with a hopeful contest winner.
The director's cut of "What Goes Around ... Comes Around" clocks in at more than nine minutes and is being made available at iTunes starting today (2/9) in a 48-hour exclusive. The Sam Bayer-directed video, which features actress Scarlett Johannson, has been hyped with a 30-second trailer at Timberlake's website. MTV will debut the video Sunday (2/11) during its "Red Carpet TRL" Grammy special.
That should tie in nicely with Timberlake's Grammy appearance, during which he'll perform solo and with the winner of the "My Grammy Moment" contest. Three unsigned artists who made it to the finals are in Los Angeles rehearsing with the pop star. Music fans will vote for their favorite and the winner will be announced live during Sunday's Grammy ceremony, just before the performance at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
The three finalists--Africa Miranda, Brenda Radney and Robyn Troup--were narrowed down from thousands of entries. Information about the singers and the contest is available at Yahoo! Music's website.
Meanwhile, Timberlake will resume his tour Feb. 18 in Buffalo, NY, and play US dates through the end of March. Those shows are listed below. The singer will kick off a European leg of the outing April 24 in Ireland and will wrap with four shows in London July 4, 5, 7 and 8.
Timberlake's latest album, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," has sold nearly 4 million copies worldwide, according to a press release. Besides "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," the record has spawned the No. 1 singles "SexyBack" and "My Love."
