Firefighter Scams Springsteen Tickets At Outlet
A Newark, New Jersey firefighter faces disciplinary action after faking a fire inspection at a ticket outlet in the moments before Bruce Springsteen tickets went on sale, then buying the first four tickets before those in line.According to AP, the incident prompted angry jeers from fans and an internal investigation of the incident with assurances that the tickets would be confiscated from the firefighter.
In the moments before tickets for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band went on sale, AP reports that a fire truck pulled up to a Ticketmaster ticket outlet in Newark. Three firefighters got off the truck and entered the store, telling the crowd outside that they were doing a fire inspection.
Waiting fans were infuriated to see one of the firefighters buy four tickets before leaving the store. A witness told AP that the firefighters shrugged off the complaints, saying that ''This is one of the perks of the job.''
A spokesman for the Newark fire department later said that the firefighter would not be able to keep the tickets. The fire department is not sure whether they will give the tickets to a charity for fundraising or try to track down a fan shut out at the ticket outlet and turn them over.
