Ricky Martin's world tour swings through US
Ricky Martin 's Black & White World Tour kicked off earlier this month in his native Puerto Rico, and the pop star has announced the trek's first US dates.
So far, the singer has three California bookings in April: San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego. More dates are on the way, including concerts in New York City, Miami, Chicago and across Texas, according to a press release. Confirmed shows are listed below.
Martin launched the tour with a bang, playing a record-setting run of four consecutive sold-out nights at The Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico, drawing more than 60,000 fans, according to a statement. The tour will roll through South and Central America hitting Guatemala, El Salvador and Argentina, in addition to Mexico. Those dates are listed at Martin's website.
The two-time Grammy winner is supporting his November release, "Ricky Martin: MTV Unplugged," which features acoustic versions of nine of his biggest hits and three new tracks. The first single from the album, "Tu Recuerdo," spent several weeks atop Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. The track, which is a duet with Spanish flamenco singer Maria del Mar Rodriguez, is streaming at Martin's MySpace page.
The "MTV Unplugged" set follows 2005's "Life," which was Martin's first English-language album in five years.
Martin has sold more than 55 million albums in a career that spans nearly two decades, according to his bio.
When the star is not touring the concert stages of the world, he spends his time on numerous humanitarian projects through the Ricky Martin Foundation. Martin was recently honored as the Latin Recording Academy's "Person of the Year" for his artistic excellence and extensive philanthropic work, and was also recently named one of People Magazine's 100 most influential Hispanics.
