LCD Soundsystem lines up tour behind 'Silver'

Electronic/dance-music act LCD Soundsystem will launch a short North American tour following the March 20 release of the group's second album, "Sound of Silver."

Aside from the band's own headlining shows, which kick off with back-to-back nights at New York's Bowery Ballroom starting March 30, the itinerary includes an April 28 stop at the Coachella festival in Indio, CA.

The brainchild of producer James Murphy, co-founder of dance/punk label DFA Records, the band technically consists only of Murphy in the studio, augmented during live performances by a four-piece band (bassist Tyler Pope, guitarist Phil Mossman, keyboardist Nancy Whang and drummer Pat Mahoney).

"Sound of Silver" is the follow-up to the group's self-titled 2005 debut, which received a pair of Grammy nominations that year: one for Best Electronica Album, and the other in the Dance category for the single "Daft Punk is Playing at My House."

Preceding the forthcoming full-length album is the digital-only EP "North American Scum," a three-song set that became available through iTunes on Tuesday (2/20).
