Briefly: Britney Spears, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Brad Paisley
Britney Spears --who twice in the past week has checked into a rehab facility, then checked out less than 24 hours later--reportedly is giving it a try for the third time.
According to reports, Spears returned to the Promises residential treatment center in Malibu, CA, last night (2/21); she originally checked herself into the facility Tuesday (2/20), but left yesterday morning. "Extra" reports that Spears' mother drove Spears to Promises late last night after picking Spears up at ex-husband Kevin Federline's home. After arriving at the home, Spears reportedly reacted to a scrum of paparazzi by striking a photographer's car with an umbrella.
The tabloid-news outlet claims Britney's return to rehab may have been in response to a potential custody hearing that Federline's lawyers were reportedly planning to schedule in an effort to give Federline custody of the couples two young children.
Hard-rock heavyweights Metallica --who, as previously reported, will begin tracking their new album next month--have rolled out dates for a summer run on the European summer-festival circuit. Details are posted at the band's website.
Original Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler claims the group's original lineup--which also includes frontman Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and guitarist Izzy Stradlin--may reunite, according to a Yahoo! Music report. Adler told the news outlet that he recently had an hours-long conversation with Rose, during which the two "resolved a lot of s---," and added that he told Rose, "you know the five of us have to get back together! That's when it will really take off again! Nothing will be bigger. It would be the biggest reunion ever in history."
As reported earlier today, the current incarnation of GN'R--of which Rose is the only remaining original member--has again postponed the release of its long-delayed album, "Chinese Democracy." McKagan, Slash and drummer Matt Sorum--who replaced Adler in GN'R following the group's tour behind its 1987 debut, "Appetite for Destruction"--are working on the sophomore album from Velvet Revolver , a band they formed several years ago with former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland and former Wasted Youth/Infectious Grooves guitarist Dave Kushner.
Stradlin made a number of guest appearances on GN'R's 2006 tour.
Kimberly Paisley, wife of country singer Brad Paisley , gave birth to the couple's first child, a boy, in a Nashville-area hospital today (2/22), according to Paisley's publicist.
Brad Paisley is currently working on his next album, and will launch a tour in late April. Kimberly Paisley stars in the ABC sitcom "According to Jim" and will also appear in the forthcoming feature film "Eden Court," according to a press release.
