The Fray tears through summer
The Fray 's relentless touring schedule has expanded once again as the pop-rock band has added a major summer trek to the fold.
The Denver-based group is currently in the midst of a UK tour and will be back in North America for a short Canadian run staring March 19. A two-night gig opening for the Dave Matthews Band in Las Vegas follows, along with more US and Canadian gigs into May.
After a break, The Fray will launch its summer jaunt June 11 in Minneapolis. OK Go and Mae will be special guests on the first half of the run, with Gomez and Eisley taking over July 10. Meese will open the final group of shows, including the August 4-5 finale at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
North American dates are listed below, and details about the UK gigs can be found at The Fray's website.
The band continues to support its double-platinum 2005 debut, "How to Save a Life," which is the best-selling digital record since SoundScan began tracking digital albums, according to a statement.
The set has spawned the singles "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How to Save a Life," both of which were nominated for Grammy awards. Those songs and a couple of others are streaming at The Fray's MySpace page.
The band has said it intends to get back in the studio this year to work on its sophomore effort.
In the meantime, a special edition of "How to Save a Life" was released late last year to hold fans over. Along with the original album, the package includes a bonus DVD with an on-the-road documentary, the "Over My Head (Cable Car)" video and the "making of" story behind the video.
