Justin Timberlake's camp calls after-party claims bogus
Justin Timberlake probably will not be coming to your town to sign autographs.
The pop idol's record label, Jive, announced today (2/27) that "any and all individuals or venues that are promoting that Justin Timberlake will attend, sign, or perform at their after party or events are completely misleading the public.
"It has come to our attention that there have been several announcements of official Justin Timberlake after parties or events during the FutureSex/LoveShow tour," the label explained in a press statement. "We would like to take this time to make absolutely clear that there are no official Justin Timberlake after parties, signings or events.
"We regret that there are individuals who are willing to take advantage of Justin Timberlake's name and his fans and we hope that all these false rumors will be laid to rest."
The announcement comes after a recent spate of disputes between club owners and the pop star's attorney, such a recent incident in Round Lake, IL, where a local bar owner, Joe Piagentini, has been promoting an upcoming Timberlake appearance at his Sharky's Billiards, and selling tickets for $100 a pop.
Gary Stiffelman, one of Timberlake's lawyers, told a local newspaper that he hasn't discussed a Timberlake visit to Sharky's with anyone and said he's never heard of Piagentini.
Piagentini, for his part, claims a promoter assured him the singer would be appearing at the bar on March 13 after he paid him a $25,000 fee.
Timberlake is currently in the middle of his FutureSex/LoveShow tour, with his next performance scheduled for tonight (2/27) in Atlanta. The outing is scheduled to continue through late March.
Timberlake's latest album, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," has sold nearly 4 million copies worldwide, according to a press release. Besides "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," the record has spawned the No. 1 singles "SexyBack" and "My Love."
