Holly Golightly to debut new band on March tour

Prolific singer/songwriter Holly Golightly will launch a spring tour with her new side-project, The Brokeoffs, whose debut album, "You Can't Buy a Gun When You're Crying," ships at the end of March.

The British-born singer and Lawyer Dave, the longtime stand-up bass player from her regular touring band, comprise the new act, which Golightly claims on her website came together as a result of "the influences of bourbon, brisket, ribs, Lead Belly, Howlin Wolf and by the cutting edge audio technology of the Victrola."

The pair will hit the US club circuit in early March, kicking off with a March 8 show in New York. The outing will cover 14 dates, leading up to the album's late March release. Details are included below.

"You Can't Buy a Gun When You're Crying" was recorded "during New Year celebrations" in 2007, according to the band's MySpace page. Golightly, meanwhile, is also scheduled to release a new solo album later this year.

The eclectic roots-rocker's next album will be her 12th studio release in a solo career that dates back to 1995's "Good Things."

Golightly began her career in 1991 with the Bill Childish spin-off group Thee Headcoatees, but departed the erstwhile girl group after four years to spawn her own solo career.
