New White Stripes album on the way
The White Stripes have revealed a few details about their forthcoming new album, "Icky Thump," although no firm release date has been set.
In a humorous press release posted at their official website, the Detroit duo of Jack and Meg White announced that they have completed the recording and mixing of the album, which will be the band's sixth studio release.
In addition to "Icky Thump" being "their first album to include a title track," the notoriously fast-working band mentions that "it was the longest time the delightful duo have ever spent in the studio, totaling almost three weeks."
"Jack and Meg were said to have been looking like they were 'into it almost,'" the posting continues. "And even Meg herself was quoted while leaving a local Nashville laundromat saying that the record was, in her best estimate; 'finished,' 'musical in nature' and lastly, though slightly muffled, 'good.'"
The band also provided a list of song titles for the album, which was recorded at Nashville's Blackbird Studio. Although not a complete track listing, some of the songs on "Icky Thump" include, in addition to the title track, "Catch Hell Blues," "Little Cream Soda," "Rag and Bone," and "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)"
The duo is mapping out a tour to back the new disc, according to the website posting: "We are doing our best (whatever that is) to release the album as soon as corporately possible. And though we are tired, worn, weary, hungry, cold, and left without an ounce of nutrition amongst ourselves, we are in the midst of planning performance type shows aroundst the world."
A short video of the pair working on another new song, "I'm Slowly Turning Into You," is available in the news section of the band's website.
