Static-X returns to road with 'Cannibal'

Industrial-metal rockers Static-X will embark on a month-long headlining tour in late March to back the April 10 release of their latest album, "Cannibal."

The Chicago-based outfit will launch its tour March 30 in Santa Ana, CA, with 22 dates crammed into the following month. The band's initial schedule (included below) shows no Midwestern or Northeastern dates, so fans should expect a second leg of shows to surface.

The group has not made an official announcement on support acts for the trek, though fellow alt-metal acts Otep and 2 Cents are listed as openers on individual venue sites for at least the first handful of shows.

For "Cannibal," the band's fifth studio album, Static-X worked with a new producer, John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry), a move the group claims took it out of its "comfort zone."

"I think it's the most metal record we've ever made, and it's arguably the heaviest record we've ever made," frontman Wayne Static said in a press release. "But with this record, I had a good time just getting back to balls-out screaming and challenging myself vocally, as well as in the songwriting."
