SXSW Performer: Peter Bjorn and John (Stockholm, Sweden)

Formed in the late '90s in their native Sweden, Peter Bjorn and John (no commas, please) make pop songs: complicated, delicate, lovely and smart pop songs--and, sometimes, all these things at once. Although the trio seems to draw inspiration from experimental '60s pop and '70s power pop, their compositions are bracing and original, and seem to defy attempts to place them within a genre. With such efforts as the just-released "Writer's Block," the group creates their own genre with every new tune. --Tjames Madison

Performing Wednesday, March 14 at 12:30 a.m. at La Zona Rosa (612 W. 4th St.).
