SXSW Performer: Apollo Sunshine (Boston, MA)

Although Boston-bred indie-rockers Apollo Sunshine are often labeled "neo-psychedelic" by the press, the group offers up a platter of diverse influences, ranging from Olivia Tremor Control-type formal pop experiments to Flaming Lips-style twisted-but-familiar, crowd-pleasing tunesmanship. The band's most recent studio album was 2005's self-titled effort; expect a new set--the group's third to date--later this year. --Tjames Madison

Performing Thursday, March 15 at 9 p.m. at Dirty Dog Bar (505 E. 6th St.).
