Alison Krauss to back 'Hundred Miles' with summer roadwork
After finishing up a run of special performances with bluegrass guitar legend Tony Rice , Alison Krauss & Union Station will hit the road again in June for a month's worth of summer shows.
As previously reported, the group's dates with Rice will kick off April 21 in Chattanooga, TN, with 11 shows scheduled through late May.
Those performances will feature Rice's guitar work augmented by the vocals and fiddle of Krauss; Dan Tyminski on guitar, mandolin, and vocals; Ron Block on guitar, banjo, and vocals; Bales on bass; longtime Rice associate Jerry Douglas on Dobro; and drummer Larry Atamanuik.
After taking a few weeks off, Krauss and the band will return to the road--sans Rice--June 14 in Jackson, MS. The summer trek will cover 19 dates and roll through mid-July. Details are included below.
The new shows will help Krauss back her new greatest hits collection. Set for an April 3 release, "A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection" gathers 16 tracks from throughout Krauss' career.
The disc--the singer's 12th release for Rounder--includes five new songs: "You're Just a Country Boy," "Jacob's Dream," "Simple Love," "Lay Down Beside Me" and "Away Down the River," all of which feature Krauss as a producer.
