Seal continues work on new album, plots May trek
Singer/songwriter Seal has announced the first round of dates for his upcoming tour, while continuing to reveal via his personal blog info about the recording process for his new album.
The Grammy-winning performer will hit the road in May for two weeks' worth of shows, kicking off May 15 in Westbury, NY. The 11-date trek will wind up at the end of the month in Dallas. Details are included below.
Seal has been communicating with his fans through his frequently updated blog, which is also accessible through his official website.
"The album is going very well as I mentioned before," the singer wrote in a recent entry. "During my trip to Germany this last week, I had a chance to listen to the work thus far on the plane there and back. Being up there far removed from contact or distraction adds certain timelessness to the mix, which allows you to enjoy it (or not as the case can be) from a listener's perspective. They stood up really well I was pleased to find and made me all the more excited to start work in the studio again this coming week."
The as-yet-untitled album would be the singer's first studio release since 2003's "Seal IV."
"The new record is really shaping up and is turning out to be much [more] of a dance record," Seal wrote in another entry. "This is something that I've always wanted to do seeing as most will say that dance is my background. Over the years I've somehow become more known for my ballads which I also love doing but dance music has always been close to my heart. Make no mistake, there will also be a killer ballad or three on this record but at this point in my life I really want to make something that is more dance directed."
In addition to posting material from his work-in-progress album--which he hopes to release this summer--Seal is also planning to post a streaming version of "Togetherland," an album he originally planned to release in 2001, but ultimately shelved and went back to the drawing board to create "Seal IV."
