Modest Mouse tours behind new record
Modest Mouse 's new album is finally out, and the indie rockers are supporting it with more dates in North America.
The band's March run ended last night (3/21) with a sold-out show on its home turf of Seattle. The tour picks up again April 15 with another Seattle gig, followed by stops all over the US and Canada through mid-May. Two-night stands are booked at venues in Minneapolis and New York.
Bizarre indie-rock band Love as Laughter, which also hails from the Pacific Northwest, will open the shows. The itinerary is listed below.
A few European dates have also been scheduled beginning May 20, including one at London's famed Royal Albert Hall. Details for those shows can be found at the band's website.
Modest Mouse's fifth studio set, "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank," hit the street Tuesday. The record is the band's first since recruiting its dream guitarist, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, as a permanent Modest Mouse member. The record was originally set for release last December, but Modest Mouse ended up canceling some late-year shows to put in extra studio work.
The set's first single, "Dashboard," is streaming at Modest Mouse's website and MySpace page.
"We Were Dead ..." follows 2004's "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," which earned the band its first platinum-album certification and spawned the hit song "Float On."
