Marilyn Manson, Slayer to join forces for summer tour

Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson will hook up with metal vets Slayer this summer for a full national tour, sources for both camps are reporting.

The trek is expected to kick off July 25 on the East Coast, hitting around 25 cities total, and to wrap up sometime in early September. Promoters expect to release a full schedule of confirmed dates soon.

The pairing will get a test run in June, when Manson and Slayer share the stage at three European festivals: the UK's Download Festival (June 9), Sweden's Greenfield Festival (June 15) and the Metaltown Festival in Stockholm (June 30).

Manson will use the outing to support his forthcoming new album, "Eat Me, Drink Me," which is set for a June release. The singer plans to release a film--"Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll," based on the life of the "Alice in Wonderland" creator--in conjunction with the disc. Manson claimed in a recent press statement that the movie "is nothing short of the most horrifying horror that you could ever experience."

Slayer continues to support its most recent studio album, last year's "Christ Illusion." The disc peaked at No. 5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.
