Kenny Chesney adds dates to tour, as promised

Country star Kenny Chesney [ tickets ] is making good on his promise to tinker with his recently announced tour schedule, adding three new dates so far to the huge trek.

The singer has added two new stops in Las Vegas--May 3 and 4 at the Mandalay Bay resort--as well as an April 22 second night in Jacksonville, FL, and May 5 stop in Phoenix. Details are included below.

The itinerary will likely continue to evolve; the singer has cautioned fans that currently announced dates may be subject to change.

"It seems like every year there are leaks ... and questions ... and things that someone heard from someone who knew someone," Chesney said in a message posted on his website, "which is fine--except it's hard to tell who really knows, and I don't want my fans thinking I was coming to their town, when it was never on the list of cities we were talking to."

The arena trek, which will include stops in more than 50 cities, kicks off April 12 in Omaha, NE, and is currently set to run into September.

All dates on the Flip Flop Summer Tour will feature support from Sugarland and Pat Green, with several tour stops marked for additional support from Brooks & Dunn and Sara Evans, beginning with the June 9 show in Pittsburgh.

"Beer in Mexico," the fifth single from Chesney's most recent album, 2005's "The Road & The Radio," recently hit No. 1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart, becoming the third song from the album to reach the top position.

"You don't care where great songs come from if you're really about the songs," Chesney said about the song in a posting on his website. "But I have to tell you… it's a pretty great feeling when the song you hear blasting out of people car radios is something you actually wrote."
