Gwen Stefani expands 'Sweet Escape' plan
Gwen Stefani has added a few US dates to her "Sweet Escape" world tour, and has also announced shows in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, Japan and Europe.
The 44-date North American run, which kicks off April 21 in Las Vegas, now includes late-June shows in Santa Barbara, CA, and Reno, NV. An Aug. 24 gig was also added in Honolulu, HI, between shows in Japan and Europe. Meanwhile, the June 7 Milwaukee stop has been canceled. North American dates--which feature platinum-selling singer Akon and British MC Lady Sovereign in the support slots--are listed below.
The international concerts include Stefani's first-ever tour of the UK and first performances in Japan. Those dates can be found at the singer's website.
The No Doubt frontwoman-turned-solo-artist also recently announced plans to raise money for children's charities by auctioning off premium ticket packages to US and Canadian shows, according to a press release. Winning bidders will get four front-row tickets, concert T-shirts, autographed copies of Stefani's latest album and a backstage meet-and-greet with the star. At press time, bids for the tour-opening VIP experience in Las Vegas had surpassed $4,000. Details are available at the auction's webpage.
Stefani is supporting her sophomore solo album, "The Sweet Escape," which hit stores in December and has spawned hit singles "Wind it Up" and the title track, both of which are streaming at her MySpace page. She is scheduled to perform "The Sweet Escape" with Akon tonight (3/28) on Fox television's "American Idol."
The latest set follows Stefani's quadruple-platinum-selling 2004 solo debut, "Love. Angel. Music. Baby."
