Briefly: Good Charlotte, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Breaking Benjamin
Pop-punk outfit Good Charlotte plans to back its just-released album, "Good Morning Revival," with a series of high-profile television appearance as the group gears up for a world tour behind the set.
The band's plans call for guest appearances April 9 on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," April 11 on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and April 26 on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," according to a press release. Each guest spot will feature the group performing its current single, "The River."
Once the small-screen work is out of the way, Good Charlotte will set out on a tour that is scheduled to touch down in Latin America, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, and will canvas Europe throughout May and June. The group plans to announce a US outing soon, according to its publicist.
A new album from Beastie Boys is on the way, according to an email the group sent out today (3/28).
In the message, the group listed off upcoming plans that, in addition to dishing the new album--which the group noted is "gonna be sick"--include hitting the stage for a number of summer shows that are "gonna be sick," tackling some instrumental-only shows ("better call your doctor ... cause they're gonna be sick"), launching a new website that will be "sick" and rolling out some new gear, which the band described as being "sick."
"Go see a tailor and get tapered up," the message concluded.
Full details about the group's currently confirmed concert plans--all of which are set abroad, except for a previously announced May 26-27 engagement at Washington state's Sasquatch Festival and an Aug. 4 set at the second-annual Virgin Fest in Baltimore--are available at the band's website.
Smashing Pumpkins have lined up their first live performance since a Dec. 2, 2000 gig that was to be the band's last. The revamped group will return to the stage for a May 22 concert at the Grand Rex in Paris, during which the band will unveil songs from "Zeitgeist," the forthcoming follow-up to 2000's "Machina/The Machines of God." Tickets hit the box office April 11, according to a press release. More information is available at the band's website.
A special edition of "Phobia," the latest album from rockers Breaking Benjamin , is headed to stores April 17, according to a press release. The set will feature a live DVD shot during a concert in Allentown, PA. A teaser is posted at YouTube's website.
