Willie Nelson extends tour through July

The dates just keep rolling in for Willie Nelson . The country-music legend, who recently finished a US tour with Merle Haggard and Ray Price to support the trio's new album, "Last of the Breed," now has headlining shows that extend into late July.
Following gigs this weekend in Oklahoma and Texas, Nelson will take a two-week break and be back April 15 with a five-show run at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium. After a May 5 performance at Indio, CA's inaugural Stagecoach Festival, the Red-Headed Stranger will take another breather before hitting the East Coast June 11 and then taking off for a string of 10 shows in Canada. July finds Nelson back in the West and Midwest. Dates are listed below.
"Last of the Breed," released March 20, is the first album that brings Nelson together with fellow Country Music Hall of Famers Haggard and Price. The two-disc, 22-song collection includes new versions of country classics along with two new songs: Nelson's "Back to Earth" and Haggard's "Sweet Jesus." Samples of a few tracks from the record are streaming at Nelson's MySpace page.
Last year, the multi-Grammy-winner released three albums: the Ryan Adams-produced "Songbird," which includes covers, new renditions of Nelson classics and two new originals; "The Great American Songbook," a collection of standards; and "You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker."
With all of the recording and touring, the hard-working Texas icon is still finding time to help other acts with his newly formed label, Pedernales Records. The company, which Nelson unveiled earlier this month at the South by Southwest music festival, is a partnership with his longtime manager, Mark Rothbaum. Their inaugural release will be the debut from 40 Points, which features Nelson's sons Lukas and Micah.
