The Shins, Wu-Tang Clan highlight Bumbershoot lineup

Indie rockers The Shins and hip-hop icons Wu-Tang Clan are among the highlights of the initial lineup unveiled by organizers of Seattle's 2007 Bumbershoot festival.

The indoor/outdoor festival, set to run over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1-3), will feature music, comedy, theater, film and crafts, among other activities, spread across more than 20 venues at the 74-acre Seattle Center.

Music will be the main draw once again as the festival notches its 37th year of existence. Aside from The Shins and Wu-Tang, Bumbershoot's initial lineup includes Panic! At the Disco, a reunited Crowded House , Steve Earle , DeVotchKa, Devendra Banhart, Gogol Bordello, Kill Hannah, Norma Jean, Plain White T's, The Gourds, Lyrics Born, Roky Erickson & The Explosives, The Holmes Brothers, The Avett Brothers, Yungchen Lhamo, Allison Moorer, Magnolia Electric Company, and The Aggrolites.

Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks, according to Bumbershoot's official website.

Aside from live music, highlights of the festival will include three stages featuring stand-up and improv comedy, several dance troupes, and the popular 1 Reel Film Festival, which is returning for its second year. The festival's film component features "live-action, animated, experimental and documentary films, music videos and shorts from regional, national and international filmmakers," according to organizers.

Tickets are already on sale for the event, and passes are available for individual days or for the entire weekend. More info on tickets can be found at the event's website.
