Allman Brothers map summer tour

Currently ensconced in their annual residency at New York's Beacon Theatre, southern-rock icons The Allman Brothers Band have sketched out plans for their 2007 summer tour.

After wrapping up its four remaining New York shows starting tonight (4/5), the group will head south to tackle a pair of headlining performances at the April 13-14 Wanee Festival in Live Oak, FL. The outdoor festival also features Allmans' "sister" act Gov't Mule (featuring current Allmans' guitarist Warren Haynes). More information can be found on the festival's website.

The group's summer tour begins in earnest with a July 31 gig in Rama, Ontario, and leads into a number of August co-headlining dates with Bob Weir's Ratdog. The full itinerary is included below.

The Allmans' lineup for the upcoming gigs will include Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Haynes, (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas, percussion).

The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut in 1969. The group's most recent studio release is 2003's "Hittin' the Note," which marked the first new studio album from the band in nine years.

The band has also been issuing live material from its archives, including the just released "Boston Common 8/17/71," which was recorded about 10 weeks before founding guitarist Duane Allman died. The CD is sold via the Allmans' website and at its concerts.
