Sounds of the Underground nails down 'skull-splintering' lineup
The Sounds of the Underground tour is back this summer with metalcore outfits GWAR , Chimaira and Every Time I Die leading the charge.
The trek kicks off July 6 in Dallas and travels all over the US and Canada, with an Aug. 8 finale in Denver. The itinerary is listed below.
GWAR will close most nights of the tour, with three other bands rotating in the headline position--Chimaira, Every Time I Die, and what organizers call a "blockbuster artist" yet to be announced. Additional special-guest headliners will join the bill on select dates, according to a press release.
The lineup also includes Job For a Cowboy, Necro, Darkest Hour, Amon Amarth, The Acacia Strain, The Devil Wears Prada, Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Goatwhore, This Is Hell and 2 Cents.
Ticket pre-sales begin April 25, with the general on-sale set for May 11. Information and updates are available at the event's website.
This year marks the third for what Sounds of the Underground's publicist describes as the "neck-snapping, skull-splintering tour." It's the second time Chimaira has been on the bill.
"We played the first year and we had a f---ing blast," Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter said in a statement. "This year, we are going to up the production level and bring something special to our fans. Then we will get wasted every night with ETID and GWAR. See you this summer!"
Retailer Hot Topic is presenting this summer's outing and will carry the 2007 version of the double CD/DVD "Sounds of the Underground" compilation, which will be available in late June.
