B.B. King launches fest with Al Green and Etta James
Music legends B.B. King , Al Green and Etta James will share a stage for the first time during this summer's B.B. King Blues Festival tour.
The outing will hit 16 US cities, beginning July 24 in Hollywood, FL, and wrapping Sept. 9 in Murphys, CA. Details are listed below.
Joan Osborne will join King for shows in the Chicago area August 28-29, and Robert Randolph and James Hunter will play with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer in Los Angeles Sept. 5. Green and James will not appear on those dates.
Currently, King is out on his 60th Anniversary Tour, which will take him through North America through the end of the year. A few weeks before the B.B. King Blues Festival launches, the 15-time Grammy winner will play his annual homecoming concert in Indianola, MS, where a $10 million museum is scheduled to open in his honor next summer, according to a press release. King's dates can be found at his website.
The Rev. Al Green, whose four-decade career earned him a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, will take his R&B/gospel stylings throughout the US and Europe through October. Details are available at Green's website.
James, who is also a Grammy Lifetime Achievement honoree, continues to showcase her five decades of blues, R&B and gospel on the road, as well. Etta James and the Roots Band currently have shows listed through June at her website.
