Bob Dylan reveals summer tour plans
Bob Dylan looks ready to get back into domestic touring mode this summer with a North American outing to follow the roadwork he's been laying down this spring in European venues.
The singer, who sported a trio of big-name openers in Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon and The Raconteurs during his fall trek through North America, hasn't yet named support acts for the summer tour, which kicks off June 22 in Atlantic City.
The 20-city tour includes several Canadian dates, with the outing running into late July. Details are included below; Dylan's remaining European itinerary is posted at his official website.
Last year, Dylan offered up "Modern Times," his first new studio set since 2001's "Love and Theft." The disc, which is the folk legend's 44th album, features 10 new Dylan originals he recorded with his touring band: guitarists Stu Kimball and Denny Freeman, multi-instrumentalist Donnie Herron, bassist Tony Garnier and drummer George Recile. Dylan sang and played keyboards, guitars and harmonica.
A new Dylan composition, "Hucks Tune," will turn up on the "Lucky You" soundtrack, which hits stores next Tuesday (4/24). The album also features new recordings from Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson and actress Drew Barrymore, who stars in the film, as well as previously released material from Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and Liza Minnelli. The film arrives in theaters May 4.
