311 rolls out summer tour with Matisyahu
Reggae-rockers 311 have assembled a major summer outing that will take them all over the US from June through August.
The "Summer Unity Tour" begins June 21 in Tucson, AZ, with American-Jewish reggae artist Matisyahu providing support on most dates, along with another act yet to be announced. A majority of the shows will take place at outdoor venues.
The itinerary is included below, while ticket on-sale information and a rundown of the dates on which Matisyahu is scheduled to appear are available at 311's website.
As usual, the band will plan a new set list every night, and the members encourage fans to map out road trips to see multiple shows.
Omaha-bred 311 continues to support its eighth studio album, "Don't Tread on Me," which surfaced in 2005. The members recorded and mixed the record at their own Los Angeles-based Hive Studio with Ron Saint Germain (Soundgarden, Tool) serving as producer. The title track from the set is streaming at 311's MySpace page.
The group, which has been around for 17 years, built a grassroots following early in its career through relentless touring and dynamic live shows.
311 has sold more than 7 million albums in the US, according to a statement. Four of its releases have reached the Top 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and six 311 singles have scored Top 10 status on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, including No. 1 hits "Down" and "Love Song."
