Pitchfork Music Festival adds Yoko Ono as headliner
Yoko Ono will headline the second day of this year's Pitchfork Music Festival , according to the event's organizers, who also announced several other additions to the three-day festival.
Set for July 13-15 in Chicago's Union Park, this year's edition expands from two days to three as the event continues to grow in its third year. Sonic Youth will headline the festival's Friday kick-off night, with the band performing its 1988 masterpiece "Daydream Nation" in its entirety, followed by Ono closing Saturday night's lineup, and then The New Pornographers capping off the festival July 15.
Also added to the festival's lineup were Califone , The Sea & Cake, The Twilight Sad, Nomo, The William Parker Quartet and Fred Lonberg-Holm's Lightbox Orchestra.
Previously announced acts include Cat Power, Iron & Wine, Girl Talk, Grizzly Bear, De La Soul, Of Montreal, Stephen Malkmus and The GZA. The full roster of performers can be found at the event's website. The initial lineup includes 26 acts, a figure organizers say is likely to grow before the festival opens.
Tickets for the event are currently available, with three-day festival passes going for $50 apiece, two-day passes for Saturday and Sunday for $35, and one-day tickets at $25 for Saturday or Sunday, or $15 for Friday night.
Last year's version of the festival featured Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Mission of Burma, and Mountain Goats, among others. The event is sponsored by music website pitchforkmedia.com, which curated the initial version of the event, the 2005 Intonation Festival, at a different Chicago park.
