New mom Ani DiFranco lines up shows
Singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco will take a short break from focusing on her recently born child to play a few shows this summer in support of her most recent album, "Reprieve."
DiFranco gave birth to a daughter, Petah Lucia, in January at her Buffalo home. The child's father is Mike Napolitano, who's credited as the "recordist and mix doctor" on "Reprieve."
The new mother has lined up six shows in July, kicking off July 11 in San Diego, as well as a lone date in September. Details on the shows, which will feature DiFranco on guitar and touring partner Todd Sickafoose on upright bass, are included below.
"Reprieve," her 19th studio release in a career that dates back to her self-titled 1990 debut, hit stores last August. It followed 2005's "Knuckle Down."
DiFranco, who previously performed more than 100 gigs per year, announced in 2005 that she was suffering from inflamed nerves and tendons in her wrists and hands. Following her tendonitis diagnosis, she took a three-month break from the road in an unsuccessful effort to treat the condition. The singer resumed regular touring last April, but--due to her pregnancy--her schedule was relatively light.
