Food poisoning sidelines My Chemical Romance tour
Alt-rockers My Chemical Romance and support act Muse were forced to cancel a couple of dates on their North American trek after band and crew members were struck with serious food poisoning.
Several musicians and crew members became violently ill after their April 28 show in Williamsburg, VA, according to a press release. With multiple people scattered across different hospitals, the bands had to cancel the next night's gig in State College, PA, and postpone last night's (5/1) show in Columbus, OH, to tonight (5/2). As a result, the concert originally scheduled for tonight in Pittsburgh, PA, has been canceled. An updated tour itinerary is listed below.
Tickets for the State College and Pittsburgh shows will be refunded at point of purchase, and My Chemical Romance hopes to make it back to those cities before the end of the year, a press release said.
The band is still on track to play a homecoming gig this Saturday (5/5), headlining the first day of the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, NJ.
MCR is in the midst of a world tour supporting its October release, "The Black Parade," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The North American jaunt wraps May 22 in Portland, OR, after which the band will head to Europe for a run of festival shows beginning June 1 at Germany's Rock Am Ring. Overseas dates can be found at My Chemical Romance's website.
UK pop-prog trio Muse is touring behind its fourth studio album, "Black Holes and Revelations," which hit stores last summer. The group will also return to Europe to play the festival circuit following the outing with MCR.
