Tool extends tour through mid-July
Prog-rockers Tool have made some changes and additions to their North American tour, which kicked off last week with two nights in Las Vegas and now stretches into mid-July.
Several cities have been tacked onto the 45-date outing, including Ft. Worth, TX; Hamilton, Ontario; Montreal; Boston; Portland, ME; Albany, NY; and Reading, PA. Tool has also been added to Milwaukee's Summerfest in July, and will be a headliner at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Festival in June. An updated itinerary is listed below.
The trek was originally set to kick off in mid-March, but was postponed after drummer Danny Carey tore a bicep. The accident--which Tool, in a tongue-in-cheek posting at its website, blamed on a dog--happened a week after the band announced the first 30 dates of the North American trek.
Tool, which has also been in New Zealand, Australia and Japan this year, is crossing the globe in support of its latest release, "10,000 Days." The band's fourth studio set debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 chart and scored two Grammy nominations, including Best Hard Rock Performance for the song "Vicarious."
"10,000 Days," which hit the streets a year ago, marked Tool's return following a three-year hiatus. The set followed 2001's multiplatinum-selling "Lateralus," which also debuted at No. 1 on the album chart.
In a 16-year span, Tool has sold more than 10 million albums and a half million videos in the US, according to a statement.
