Details emerge for Live Earth Sydney

Organizers have nailed down the lineup for the Australian version of the 24-hour Live Earth concerts, which will span all seven continents July 7 in an effort to bring attention to the climate crisis.

The massive concert will kick off at Sydney's Aussie Stadium with Crowded House , Jack Johnson , Wolfmother , John Butler Trio , Missy Higgins, Eskimo Joe, Sneaky Sound System, Paul Kelly, Ghostwriters, Toni Collette & the Finish, and Blue King Brown. To cut the environmental impact of the concert, promoters have worked with the Australian government to include the cost of public transportation in the ticket price, according to a press release.

Following Sydney, Live Earth will make its way across the continents with shows in Tokyo, Shanghai, Johannesburg, London, and Rio de Janeiro before wrapping at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

Last month, the initial lineups were announced for the US and UK shows. Giants Stadium will host The Police, Roger Waters, Smashing Pumpkins, Kanye West, John Mayer, AFI, Kelly Clarkson, Akon, KT Tunstall, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Dave Matthews Band, Rihanna and Fall Out Boy.

Performers at London's Wembly Stadium will include Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Bloc Party, Corinne Bailey Rae, Damien Rice, David Gray, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters, Genesis, James Blunt, John Legend, Keane, Madonna, Paolo Nutini, Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol and legendary fake rockers Spinal Tap.

"Over 100 headlining artists ranging from Madonna to The Police to Wolfmother , all of whom are donating their time to perform at the concerts, will inspire an audience of over 2 billion people," Live Earth founder Kevin Wall said in a statement. "Live Earth is designed to trigger a mass movement to combat our climate crisis."

The Live Earth performances will be streamed live at the event's website and will also be broadcast worldwide on television and radio.

Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign to move individuals, corporations and governments to take action, according to a press release. All proceeds will go to The Alliance for Climate Protection and other international non-government organizations.
