Jonny Lang back on road following Grammy win
Fresh off his recent Grammy win for his 2005 album "Turn Around," gospel/blues singer and guitarist Jonny Lang will launch a headlining tour of nightclubs and small theaters at the end of the month.
The North Dakota native, who launched his career as a teen guitar sensation in the '90s, will kick off the upcoming trek May 30 in Jacksonville, FL, with 28 cities mapped on an outing that covers June and July and spills slightly into August. Full details are included below.
The guitar prodigy continues to support his fifth album, "Turn Around," which took home a Grammy in February for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. The set, released last September, chronicles Lang's spiritual transformation after dealing with the pressures of stardom. The record is being marketed to both mainstream and Christian audiences.
"It wasn't so long ago that I was spiraling downward in a lot of ways, until God touched my life and set me on the right track," Lang said in a statement. "I feel a huge debt to give glory back to Him for everything He has done for me. It's the least I can do."
Lang co-wrote the 14 songs on "Turn Around" with collaborators including Grammy winners Drew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders, as well as five-time Grammy winner Steven Curtis Chapman. Guest appearances on the album include Michael McDonald, Sam Bush, Buddy Miller and Nickel Creek violinist Sara Watkins.
