Allman Brothers fill in summer tour plans

The Allman Brothers Band has filled in gaps in its summer schedule, mapping out a busy August with a new run of dates featuring Robert Randolph & The Family Band.

The shows with blues-rocker Randolph and his band follow a series of co-headlining gigs for the Allmans. The group will tackle a three-city run of shows with Drive-By Truckers starting Aug. 10 in Charlotte, NC, before merging tours with former Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir's Ratdog for seven shows, beginning with a Aug. 14 appearance in Bristow, VA.

The Allmans' full schedule is included below.

The band's lineup for the upcoming gigs will include Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Haynes, (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas, percussion).

The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut in 1969. The group's most recent studio release is 2003's "Hittin' the Note," which marked the first new studio album from the band in nine years.

The Allmans have also been issuing live material from their archives, including the just released "Boston Common 8/17/71," which was recorded about 10 weeks before founding guitarist Duane Allman died. The CD is sold via the Allmans' website and at its concerts.
