Willie Nelson extends tour into fall

Willie Nelson 's tour bus will keep on rolling as the country legend continues to stretch his North American trek, which now runs into September.

At the moment, Nelson is taking a breather before picking up again June 11 in Torrington, CT. He'll play five shows in the Northeast and then head to the Great White North for a 10-date run.

The Red-Headed Stranger will return to the US just in time for his annual 4th of July Picnic, which is traditionally held in his home state of Texas but will relocate to Washington state this summer. The show, set to take place at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA, will also feature Son Volt, Old 97's, Drive By Truckers and Amos Lee.

Nelson's full itinerary is listed below.

Earlier this year, Nelson toured with Merle Haggard and Ray Price to support their March release, "Last of the Breed," which brought the Country Music Hall of Famers together in the studio for the first time. The double-disc set includes new versions of country classics and two new songs: Nelson's "Back to Earth" and Haggard's "Sweet Jesus."

Last year, Nelson pumped out three albums: the Ryan Adams-produced "Songbird," which includes covers, Nelson classics and two new originals; "The Great American Songbook," a collection of standards; and "You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker."

The Texas icon, who recently celebrated his 74th birthday, is also keeping busy helping up-and-coming acts with his Pedernales Records label. The company is currently working on the debut from 40 Points, a band that features Nelson's sons Lukas and Micah.
