Aimee Mann to tackle Beatles tunes during summer shows
Instead of a full-blown summer outing, the singer--who generally limits her touring to only a couple of weeks at a time--will tackle a short schedule that opens July 19 in Easton, MD. Following two more East Coast shows, she'll embark on a short European jaunt, during which she'll join Kris Kristofferson and The Waterboys at Dublin's July 28 Midlands Festival. Mann's entire European schedule can be found at her website.
In August, she'll return to the US to join Cheap Trick and Joan Osborne for two nights of Beatles covers at the Hollywood Bowl beginning Aug. 10, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."
Mann's most recent studio release is last year's holiday collection "One More Drifter in the Snow." The set features originals and seasonal classics, including a rendering of Dr. Seuss' "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" narrated by singer/songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips, who joined Mann on her "Christmas Variety Show" tour last December.
Mann's most recent non-holiday work is 2005's "The Forgotten Arm," her fifth solo album since splitting with new wavers 'Til Tuesday in the late '80s.
