Briefly: 50 Cent, Satellite Party, Telluride Festival, Cream
Originally scheduled for release June 26, "curtis," the next album from multi-platinum rapper 50 Cent , has been pushed back until Sept. 2.
The delay is necessary in order to facilitate a "simultaneous worlwide release," according to Interscope Records, which said in a press release that the album is "near completion [but] unable to make the original June date."
"I'm an international artist," 50 Cent said in a message posted at his website. "My fans worldwide deserve to receive my album at the same time as my fans here in the US. Taking that into consideration, moving the album to September was a necessary course of action."
With the May 29 release of their debut album, "Ultra Payloaded," just a few days away, rockers Satellite Party --helmed by alt-rock elder statesman Perry Farrell--are planning some pre-release hype via a flash-mob gathering in Venice, CA, on Sunday (5/27).
According to the group's website, the event will feature Satellite Party, DJ Muggs and the Venice Original Skaters. Further details are available by text-messaging "Satellite" to 66937, according to the band's website.
Los Lonely Boys , Keb' Mo', Robert Randolph & The Family Band, The Radiators with Bonerama, JJ Grey & Mofro and Joe Bonamassa have signed on for this year's Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 14-16 at Telluride Town Park, according to organizers.
Single-day tickets go on sale June 1. More information is available at the festival's website.
Cream bassist Jack Bruce has said that the legendary trio--rounded out by drummer Ginger Baker and guitarist Eric Clapton--will reunite for some shows later this year, according to the Associated Press. No official details have been revealed.
