Rage Against the Machine adds Midwest gig
Rage Against the Machine's temporary reunion may turn out to be a longer-term arrangement, as the rockers have announced another show and launched a new website.
The cryptic new website, an offshoot of the band's official site, started out with nothing more than a pair of countdown clocks, the first one of which expired this morning (6/11) and revealed that RATM will play its only Midwest date Aug. 24 in East Troy, WI. (The second clock counts down to that performance.) Queens of the Stone Age will appear as a special guest at the Alpine Valley show. Tickets go on sale June 16.
The new site is registered to promotions giant Live Nation, which suggests more dates may be on the way.
Rage Against the Machine performed at California's Coachella Music Festival in April, its first gig since frontman Zack de la Rocha left the band in 2000. The group also signed up to play three dates on the Rock The Bells hip-hop festival in July and August. Originally, those were said to be the only dates that RATM would play this year.
Rage members Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) found themselves with more time on their hands earlier this year when singer Chris Cornell bailed on their post RATM project, Audioslave.
Morello has since released his debut solo album under his politically charged folk alter-ego--The Nightwatchman--and is currently on tour.
